There was the soft RS Lux, the sportier RS Cup and now Renault South Africa has announced that the more hardcore Trophy edition is coming to SA with a manual gearbox and EDC automatic transmission. The exterior design has some distinct changes while wearing a Liquid Yellow Paint with Trophy racing flags decals on the front fenders and close to those fenders you’ll notice unique 19-inch Jerez alloy wheels wrapped in Bridgestone tyres. You can still option out much lighter 19-inch Fuji wheels if you like.


Under the hood is the typical 1.8-litre turbopetrol 4-cylinder engine used on other Megane RS models as well but on the Trophy 300, the engine has been tweaked to produce a peak power output of 221 kW and 420 Nm of torque. 0-100 km/h is achieved at 5.7 seconds easily and it has been equipped with 4-wheel steering system.

Renault took the chassis from the Megane RS Cup, stiffened the suspension, installed 355 mm front disc brakes and employed a Torsen mechanical limited-slip differential for the Trophy 300. The exhaust system now has a valve control system that allows the driver to reduce engine noise at a push of a button.


The inside gets Recaro sports seats as standard finished in Alcantara upholstery and the driver’s seating position has been lowered by 20 mm. It has a 7.0-inch digital instrument cluster with a sporty read out. A 7.0-inch infotainment touchscreen has been included with integrated performance data when you’re driving hard on a racetrack.

Only 7 units will be shipped to SA with three manual versions costing R774 900 each and four EDC versions costing R799 900 each.
